Dental Bonding Vs Dental Veneers
Dental Bonding and dental veneers are two of the most common ways that dentists can change the way that teeth look.
Injection moulding is also another option that can be added to this list but it is essential just another variation of dental bonding where silicone is added moulded around the teeth and dental bonding is done.

What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental Veneers are better known as Porcelain Veneers these days.
Dental Veneers are a layer of porcelain placed over the front surface of the teeth to disguise heavily stained, corroded, crooked, poor shaped teeth to give them the perfect form and the end result being a perfect smile.
The type of porcelain veneers created can vary a ton. Often the most gorgeous of porcelain veneers are done through the dentist working with a laboratory where the laboratory takes the moulds of your teeth, layers porcelain on top of those moulds and heats the porcelain to extremely high temperatures to make it strong.
We often call this feldspathic porcelain veneers which are downright gorgeous and seen with celebrity smiles.
What Is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is better known as composite or tooth colour material veneers where tooth colour filling material is placed over the top layer of teeth.
This is a great way to disguise the colour, shape and size of teeth by using a completely additive procedure without removing tooth structure. Dental bonding is often better used in cases where old fillings are present, finances can’t allow porcelain veneers or if the dentist sees that the patient is not a candidate for porcelain veneers.
Dental bonding is a lot like getting a filling in terms of materials and glues that are used except there is often very little drilling of tooth structure away from your dentist. Very good isolation to keep spit and water away from the teeth is necessary for this procedure to allow for great along term results. Therefore dentists use rubberdam (a big blue sheet going over the teeth) or a lot of cotton rolls to keep things dry when doing dental bonding.
Dental Bonding Vs Dental Veneers:
Both dental bonding and dental veneers are used to improve the shape, size and colour of teeth especially in the front of the mouth, but as explained above both are different in terms of material used and the cost of the veneers.
Dental bonding is often more cost effective if someone wants a shorter term solution to their aesthetics while the dental veneers are a more long term solution and cannot be changed like dental bonding can.
Dental porcelain veneers are however often enough the better option due to how strong and aesthetic the veneers are compared to dental bonding but they are more expensive as a dental laboratory is used to create the veneers.
Which lasts longer? Dental Bonding Vs Dental Veneers:
Dental bonding usually lasts a few years before chips and stains develop around the composite veneers. This can easily be patched up and fixed by removing and adding more material to the area of the stain or chip but this will happen more often than normal porcelain veneers since composite veneers are not as strong as the porcelain veneer material.
Dental Porcelain Veneers are best of the best when it comes to veneering teeth. This is because the porcelain is very strong and is less likely to chip unlike composite veneer bonding. Porcelain veneers cannot stain and have a great track record on providing good aesthetics for a long amount of time.
